Social carácter: Diana of Gales
Diana, Princess of Wales, also known as Lady Di, was the first wife of Charles of Wales, the heir to the British Crown, with whom she had two children, William and Henry. Born into a British aristocratic family, she was the fourth daughter of John Spencer, 8th Earl of Spencer, and Frances Roche.
He helped poor children in Africa, appeared alongside personalities such as Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama or Mother Teresa of Calcutta and also presided over numerous charitable foundations.
Diana
decided to take an active role as Princess of Wales instead of spending her
hours in the palace. He was involved with a variety of causes, including AIDS patients, the
elderly and people with addictions, leprosy and various health problems. His latest commitment of
this kind related to the eradication of anti-personnel mines. A few days before the
accident that killed him, he visited Bosnia, as part of the Minefield Survivors
Network, and it is estimated that his involvement determined several actions
against the use of this type of weaponry. In fact, the International Campaign to Ban
Anti-personnel Mines won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997.
"The
biggest problem in the world today is intolerance. Everyone is so intolerant of
others".
